Christmas movies

It's always a must to get in the Christmas feel by watching Christmas movies - and there is loads of them! I will share my top 5, and not include the major ones (The Grinch, Home Alone and Elf for example), because many of them are a very obvious pick, but maybe you will get in the mood for any of these!

Bridget Jones Diary (2021):

This has always been one of my number one Christmas movies. It might not be a very typical one for many to watch during the season, but I think I just at some point started to watch it around Christmas and then it just continued - and well here we are.

Bridget Jones is 32 years old average woman that struggles with her job, weight and that she is still single (which her family makes sure she doesn't forget). At the New Year she's had enough and decides as a New Year's resolution to get control over her life. She starts writing a diary where she writes about her struggles and thoughts about every single aspect of life - and of course her transition to becoming the perfect woman.

The Holiday (2006):

As this movie has pretty much a bunch of my favourite actors growing up it can't be a secret that it's also one of my favourite Christmas movies. It's a very original story and contains both comedy and romance.

Amanda from California thinks she has it all. The house, the job and the boyfriend. But when her boyfriend is caught cheating she takes a look at her life and decides that she needs a break. She goes on a website for house swapping where she finds Rose. Rose is in a similar situation, and as she is both dumped and depressed she says yes to swap her house in the English countryside, not knowing she is swapping it with a Hollywood mansion. While Amanda tries to find her way around the picture-perfect English village, and Rose in the big Hollywood world they both encounter a very unexpected romance.

The Christmas Chronicles (2018):

A very well made movie with Kurt Russell in the role as Santa. It has comedy, adventure and is pretty much a true family movie to watch leading up to Christmas.

Christmas has never been the same for siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce since their dad passed away. Kate is trying to keep her spirits up while Teddy doesn't have the Christmas joy in him anymore. When their mom goes to work on Christmas Eve, the kids are left to mind for themselves. During the evening Kate is sure that she saw Santa, and they hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on video. When their plan doesn't really pan out, they end up joining forces with happy Saint Nick. This results in a big adventure to save Christmas before it's too late.

Arthur Christmas (2011):

This movie is a colourful happy movie. It's about knowing that you can do whatever you set your mind to do. A family movie worth a watch coming up to Christmas for sure!

The big question has always been "So, how does Santa deliver all those gifts?". Well, here you get a glimpse into Santa's high-tech operation beneath the North Pole. But, when Santa misses one child his youngest son Arthur decides to deliver the present the old fashioned way before Christmas morning.

Klaus (2019):

This is a very emotional movie, it has that little extra magic to it. I love the fact that it's how Santa became Santa, and all the small details coming with it.

When Jesper is proving himself to be the worst student at the postal academy he is sent as a postman to a frozen island above the Artic Circle. Here he discovers that the neighbors are in a feud against each other and exchanging letters is the last thing on their minds. When Jesper is about to give up he manage to team up with the local teacher Alva. They discover the mysterious carpenter Klaus who lives in a cabin alone, filled with toys. Now their mission becomes to convince Klaus to spread joy over the small town to end the feud.
