End of November last year, 2020, we had to cancel our traveling plans due to coronavirus. But you always forget the hidden gems of the country you live in. So we booked a weekend trip to go to (London)derry with Benevenagh mountain as the main target with the trip located i Limavady.

We stayed at a hotel called "Arthouse" which was located at a central townhouse in (London)Derry city. The house itself had people actually renting rooms for longer stays, but there was also rooms being rented out as hotel-stays. The hotel itself has a lobby, shared areas as kitchen and livingroom, and it is also dog friendly(!). The room we stayed in had a private bathroom and a double bed. The decor of the house is very artsy and modern. We enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend this if you are looking for accommodation in the city.

We did not spend a lot of time in the city itself because our main goal was to get to Limavady, but when we went on this trip all the restaurants and coffee shops was closed in Northern Ireland due to Covid restrictions, and only takeaway was offered. It was however a good range of different places that did takeaway foods - both lunch and dinner. We asked for recommendations from the hotel and we got a few good places for dinner. We ended up with burgers from a food truck close by, which was not too shabby!

The goal with the trip was to go to Benevenagh mountain. Here they actually filmed scenes from Game of Thrones (which I was not aware of until we went there!), and you can even read more about it when there, as there is a pitstop close to the mountain with one of the famous "Game of Thrones filming location" signs. The mountain itself surprised us, as there was no climb. You drive up all the way to the top, and there you can walk around a trail to explore the forest and views around it. When we went it was very windy, but it was a nice evening to explore, and we thought this is a perfect mountain to visit if you just want to get the views, and avoid the climb.

Overall (London)Derry is a city with a lot of history to it. If you ever visit there is a lot to do when it comes to the history aspect. It is actually also the name of the county itself, where Limavady is located. So a visit in this county can definitely give you a lot of beautiful nature, if that is your cup of tea!
