Further space glamping pods

We have a weak spot for roadtrips, so it is not strange that the first trip we did together as a couple was a drive to Enniskillen where we stayed in Further space's glamping pods for one night. Here is a short review of our stay at the location Carrickreagh Bay.

The Carrickreagh Bay glamping pods are by Further Space, and the location we stayed at was in Enniskillen, county Fermanagh. They have several locations, and are constantly expanding. The location we stayed at made the most sense to us to book at the time. It looked beautiful with the lake just outside, and it was also close to nature (which to be fair most of them, if not all of them, are). The drive without the motorway from Belfast was around three hours, and to be honest this location was one of the very few that was available at the time we wanted to stay (4th to 5th of September).
Check-in process was easy and contact free as you got a code to a box on site where you got the key to the pod. You can add firewood to make your own fire, which we did. You also have the option to add food to the price, but we decided not to do this but to make our own food using the firepit.

The pros with this pod is that it holds four people (!). There is one double bed, and two smaller beds one the side. It also has water and kitchen supplies. The bathroom is a good size and you do have a shower.
The possibility to add food or a "fire package" to the price was great.
You also had an opportunity to rent watersports to go on the lake close by. There is both a viewing point, and a walk by the lake to try out if you don't want to wander off. But if you want to drive there are many attractions to visit - which they advertise in the "welcome letter" in the pod. You do have free parking by the pods!
The cons is that this specific location is just outside a road, so it takes away that calm nature feeling a bit. If you took away the road and just had the lake outside it would be perfect. However, the pod was almost completely sound proof, so it didn't affect the experience for when inside the pod, more when spending time just outside.
It is also good to know that the pods are quite far away from civilisation. Even though we enjoyed this, it was quite difficult to find a shop when needed. There are villages close by, but you need to keep track on opening times and not be scared for a wee country drive to nowhere. A good thing would be to do the shopping beforehand to save the hassle! Also, a good thing would be to be able to add a grill on top on the firepit, so you can cook your own food. We had to do DIY to make this work, which was a bit tricky!
Lastly, the pods are not dog friendly and only allows service dogs.

This was overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend a stay at the pods! We would also go back again - but try a different location. Remember that if this is something you want to try out - book in advance as they are very popular!
