Whitespots was established as a Country Park in 1995 and is still being developed. In the years 1849 - 1864 the area was extensively mined for lead, and continued to be so until 1910. Reminders of this era can still be seen today.

The vision from the council was to create an unique open lanscape. The plan was to ensure that its history was preserved - especially in relation to the World War 1 and the mining heritage of the area.

"It's a very easy access to stunning views."

The park is a very popular location for walkers, and after our visit we definitely found out why! It's a very easy access to stunning views. All you need to do is to make sure you boost yourself for one steep hill - don't worry, it's over before you know it and then you have the views there to enjoy!

After enjoying the views we decided to take a forest path that lead us to the nearby golf course. There is a walkpath where you can walk through the course, but be aware of golf balls! We were however lucky when we went as the course was closed due to lockdown.

You are then able to walk in a loop back, but watch out for bikes as there are a lot of dirtbike-paths around the park. Due to this I would recommend keeping any dogs on a lead.

There are so many paths and areas where you can explore, and you do get a lot of everything when visitin the park.

I honestly don't know why we haven't been back yet. Especially now when we have our dog Ollie. It is a beautiful place with a lot to give, so I definitely recommend going to Whitespots Country Park for a wee stroll!
